WHAT IS A 24 H BLOOD PRESSURE MEASUREMENT?

For a 24 h blood pressure measurement, the blood pressure is measured regularly over a period of 24 hours, thus creating a profile. The patient should keep a record of what he is doing at the time. The physician can then later bring any possible blood pressure changes with related activities. The 24 h blood pressure measurement is the best way to monitor ongoing blood pressure therapy and diagnose a high blood pressure disease.

HOW IS A BLOOD PRESSURE MEASUREMENT IMPLEMENTED?

In principle, the 24 h blood pressure measurement is the same as a “normal” blood pressure measurement. The patient receives in the ordination a cuff placed over the upper arm. The cuff usually inflates every 15 minutes and measures the current blood pressure. After 24 hours, the device is delivered again in the ordination and can then be evaluated by the doctor.
